With the release of Splatoon 3 in a few months, Nintendo is giving more details about the game and revealing a brand new multiplayer map.
After the success of Splatoon 2 for Nintendo Switch, Splatoon 3 aims to be a comprehensive experience for fans of the colorful franchise. A few months before release, Nintendo decided to unveil one of the brand new maps in Splatoon 3.
Splatoon 3 is the second Nintendo Switch entry in the franchise, with the first game in the series being exclusive to the Nintendo Wii U. The Splatoon series is known for innovative multiplayer battles where two teams of four players compete against each other in an attempt to cover the map with as much ink as possible. Players have a variety of ink-filled weapons and equipment at their disposal to play in single-player or multiplayer modes. The world of Splatoon is filled with many great tunes and locations as players compete in a highly competitive online space.
Lots of new content awaits in Splatoon 3, including brand new weapons and maps. Via the official Splatoon Twitter account, Nintendo has revealed a new Splatoon 3 multiplayer map titled ‘Mincemeat Metalworks’. The Mincemeat Metalworks map is an industrial facility made from scrap with the aim of making even more scrap. In fact, the facility sorts many huge blocks of scrap.
Mincemeat Metalworks joins a growing slate of new Splatoon 3 content unveiled by Nintendo this year. Last June, Nintendo unveiled the “Undertow Spillway” map set in an abandoned flood bypass. The map “lends itself to strategic and hard-fought skirmishes between the locals of Splatsville,” according to Nintendo. The varied terrain of Undertow Spillway presents a challenge for teams trying to get the upper hand in a competitive match.
Many Splatoon fans on Twitter are intrigued and excited about the new Splatoon 3 map, Mincemeat Metalworks. The card unveiling even got more than 7,000 likes on Twitter over the course of the day. On closer inspection, many argue that the Mincemeat Metalworks card appears larger than previous Splatoon cards. If true, the selection of cards in Splatoon 3 could be interesting to watch.
The industrial undertones of Splatoon 3 cards are further cemented with Mincemeat Metalworks and Undertow Spillway. During multiplayer matches, the contrasting colors of ink add a vibrancy well known to Splatoon. From the original Splatoon to Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion, Nintendo has proven that the world of Splatoon is full of mysteries to explore. Splatoon 3 should enhance Splatoon 2’s strengths to provide a valuable experience for serial veterans and newcomers alike.
Splatoon 3 launches September 9 for Nintendo Switch.
