Apex Legends Mobile has been out for a while now, and much of the current meta is currently being determined. The game continues to grow and even added Loba in the recent season update. However, the game still has a long way to go before it ever catches up with the base game in terms of content. Apex Legends Mobile is clearly not following the same path.
Many of the current Apex Legends characters are not available in the mobile version, but eventually it will be the other way around. It had been known for a while that Apex Legends Mobile would feature exclusive content, including characters. This was really proven at launch when Apex Legends added Mobile Fade, and now it looks like another exclusive character has leaked.
It should be noted that Apex Legends seems to be quite a leaky ship with several characters leaked recently for the Apex base game. This included Newcastle prior to its launch. The latest leak comes from ThatOneGamingBot, who has been reliable in the past, and says a new character named DJ, aka Rhapsody, will be joining the Mobile Roster.
ThatOneGamingBot doesn’t provide an image of Rhapsody, but it does reveal several in-game cosmetics associated with him, including UI elements, a holospray, and more. Most importantly, it looks like Rhapsody will have a robotic dog as part of his kit named Nebula. ThatOneGamingBot compared it to Crypto’s drone. Nebula is clearly a dog, but not super realistic, with built-in speakers in his head.
It’s not known if they’re the character from Season 2 or if they’re in development much earlier, but based on Nebula’s name and design, it’s easy to think they have sound-based abilities. It’s even possible that Nebula can distract enemies by making noises or mimicking gunshots – something familiar to a previously leaked character who was eventually scrapped. Indeed, messing with audio and sounds can be really disorienting and maybe OP in the base game, but maybe it fits well in the mobile game.
What Rhapsody’s gear might be remains to be seen, of course. The only real hints come from Nebula and his name, but if he is indeed based on sound and noise it will be interesting to see how he shakes up the Apex Legends Mobile meta when he releases it.
Apex Legends is now available for mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
