Genshin Impact Fan Designs Their Own Xiao Shirt

A Genshin Impact player celebrates the Anemo character Xiao as their main character with a custom shirt that pairs him with a classic meme.

There are many Genshin impact characters favored by players, spawning creative fan art and other impressive creations inspired by them. A Genshin Impact fan has decided to celebrate their favorite character in the miHoYo action RPG with a unique shirt that combines the Genshin universe with a classic meme.

Reddit user Vivdarlin recently posted a photo of someone modeling his Genshin Impact t-shirt, showing a different side of Xiao than players know in the game. Xiao from Genshin Impact is an Anemo user in Genshin Impact who uses Polearms and is usually found in Wangshu Inn when fans aren’t playing as him after probably getting the hero from the “Invitation to Mundane Life” event. Xiao follows the constellation Alatus Nemeseos and this shirt reflects the space influence of Genshin Impact. He also often wears a dark Oni mask, which is also reflected in Vivdarlin’s design.

On Vivdarlin’s shirt, Genshin Impact’s Xiao is centered in a predominantly purple box above a Japanese script that acts as a title for an iTunes song, with the play, fast-forward and rewind symbols all displayed at the bottom. Xiao removes his Oni mask on Vivdarlin’s shirt to reveal his crying face which reflects the I am fine meme of a sobbing character with bloodshot eyes putting a smiling mask on their faces. In Genshin Impact, Xiao is also known as the Curse of All Evil, and when he puts on this mask, his in-game suffering is emphasized as his health is depleted in exchange for enhanced combat skills.

According to Vivdarlin, the Japanese characters describe the voice lines said by Genshin Impact voice actor Yoshitsugu Matsuoka when players use two of Xiao’s elemental abilities before unleashing a burst “as a Xiao head would.” Vivdarlin has confirmed that Genshin Impact fans who like their Xiao-themed meme shirt can purchase it on their Spring page alongside other merchandise, and it will cost just under $25. This Genshin Impact fan also has the Xiao design turned into a jersey and sticker, allowing players to represent Xiao in a number of ways.

A Genshin Impact fan who responded to Vivdarlin’s Reddit post shared that the Japanese characters are “Kudaranai”, which means worthless, “Mudada”, which is useless, and “Kiero”, which translates into disappearing. Another Genshin Impact player speculated that Xiao is listening to a song given the design of Vivdarlin’s shirt while complimenting his creativity, suggesting it could be 4 Gatsu’s Berserk anime soundtrack. Vivdarlin has assured a Xiao critic that her head is well taken care of and that she gets “a lot of almond tofu” except to celebrate with this custom Genshin Impact shirt.

Genshin impact is now available for mobile, PC, PS4 and PS5. A Switch version is currently in development with no confirmed release date.
